Steampunk Fathers Day Card

Fathers Day Card Instructions

Cut and Score Cardstock
Fold and Crease Cardstock
Ink Card Edges

Using a paper trimmer, cut a piece of 8-1/2" x 11" kraft cardstock down from 11 inches to 7 inches. From the 7" side, make a score in the middle at 3-1/2".

Fold and crease the score line with a bone folder.

Ink the front edges of the card with Vintage Photo ink and a sponge. 


Cut Scrapbook Papers
Apply Black Paint to Metallic Paper
Wipe Off Excess Paint

Using a paper trimmer, cut the following pieces: from the patterned paper, a 3-1/4" x 5" piece. From the metallic paper, a 3-1/4" x 3-3/4" piece. 

Apply a small dollop of black paint directly onto the middle of the metallic paper. Using a paint brush, spread evenly over the surface until the paper it completely covered.

Immediately remove excess paint with a paper towel, revealing the texture of the paper. Wipe until desired effect is achieved. Let dry.


Trim 1/2 Inch from Longest Side
Punch Holes for Eyelets
Add Eyelets

Using a paper trimmer, trim a 1/2" piece from the 3-3/4" side.

Using a paper punch, punch holes that are centered on the ends of the small metallic paper strip, 1/4" from the edges. Punch holes in the bottom corners of the larger metallic paper piece leaving 1/4" from the edges.

Insert the first black eyelet into the topside of the paper. Turn over and place the eyelet setter into the middle of the eyelet. Use a small hammer to flatten. Repeat for remaining eyelets.


Cut and Ink Sentiment
Stamp Hand on Cardstock
Ink Hand and Punch Hole

Print sentiments and verse on cream or off-white cardstock. Using a paper trimmer, cut to size. Ink the edges using Vintage Photo ink and a sponge.

Using the extra cardstock from the sentiment, stamp the hand image using Black Soot ink. Using a scissors, cut the image out.

Ink the edges using Vintage Photo ink and a sponge. Using a paper punch, punch a hole in the center of the cuff as shown.


Attach Hand to Patterned Paper
Attach Papers to Front of Card
Attach Sentiment

Using a paper punch, punch a hole 3/4" in from the edge of the patterned paper and half way between the top and bottom. Attach the stamped hand image to the paper using a black brad.

Apply double-sided tape to the back side of the paper pieces. Attach the paper pieces to the front of the card leaving an even border as shown.

Apply double-side tape to the back side of the small metallic paper piece and attach to the top of the pattern paper as shown. Apply double-sided tape to the back side of the sentiment and attach to the top of the metallic paper slightly overlapping the pattern paper to hide the seam where the two papers meet.


Attach Star Stickers
Attach Sentiment to Inside of Card

Attach star stickers as shown, 1/2" in from the sides and 1/4" from the top metallic paper piece and sentiment.

Finish by applying double-sided tape to the back side of the verse and attach to the inside of the card 1/2" from the right edge and 3" from the bottom.

Fathers Day Card Tips

  • Substitute the metallic paper with another paper from the paper pack or solid cardstock. 
  • Substitute the hand stamped image with ephemera.
